Police are seeking public assistance to locate and arrest a man sentenced to death in connection with the murder of a woman in the Walpola area of the Ragama Police Division in 2019.
The suspect, identified as Raneepura Dewage Ranuka Eranda Wijetunga, aged 38, was sentenced to death by the Negombo High Court in connection with the case.
According to police, the trial proceeded in the absence of the accused after he failed to appear before court, in accordance with provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Police said the suspect’s recorded address is No. 35/1, Uggahena, Walpola, Ragama.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the wanted suspect is requested to inform the Officer-in-Charge of the Ragama Police Station on 071 859 1604, or the Officer-in-Charge of the Criminal Division on 071 962 7561.
Police have urged the public to provide any information that could assist in locating and apprehending the suspect.
