Three Sri Lankan suspects arrested in Malaysia, including alleged organized crime figure Dhanushka Kaushalya, alias “Ratmalana Saima,” were brought back to Sri Lanka on this afternoon (10) following a joint operation by Sri Lankan and Malaysian law enforcement authorities.
The three suspects arrived in Sri Lanka on SriLankan Airlines flight UL315 at around 4:28 p.m., according to reports. A special team of Sri Lankan police officers, including Assistant Superintendent of Police Rohan Olugala, travelled to Malaysia to escort the suspects back to the country.
Police have identified “Ratmalana Saima” as a key associate of alleged organized crime figure Kanjipani Imran. An Interpol Red Notice had reportedly been issued against one of the suspects.
According to police investigations, Ratmalana Saima allegedly handled Kanjipani Imran’s financial affairs and managed his social media activities, including the circulation of recorded messages. Investigators have also alleged that he assisted another organized crime suspect, Kehelbaddara Padme, while the latter was in hiding in Malaysia.
Police said Ratmalana Saima had been residing in Malaysia for approximately 10 years before his arrest. The three suspects were arrested in Malaysia during a special operation jointly conducted by Sri Lankan and Malaysian police authorities.
Following their return, the suspects are expected to be handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigations and legal proceedings.
