Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam was arrested after appearing before the Colombo Central Crimes Investigation Bureau (CCIB) this morning in connection with an ongoing investigation.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam was arrested after appearing before the Colombo Central Crimes Investigation Bureau (CCIB) this morning in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Kariyawasam had been summoned to provide a statement regarding remarks allegedly made concerning the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The investigation was initiated recently on the instructions of the IGP following reports of a statement allegedly made about him. Further legal action is expected following Kariyawasam’s arrest.
