Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam has been summoned to appear before the Central Criminal Investigation Bureau today in connection with a statement he made regarding the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Mr. Kariyawasam said that his remarks concerning the Police Chief had been misinterpreted and given incorrect interpretations.
The SLPP General Secretary is expected to provide a statement to investigators regarding the controversial remarks. The summons comes amid attention surrounding his comments on the IGP and their subsequent interpretation.
