The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) is scheduled to open its online registration portal today (August 10) for Sri Lankans seeking employment opportunities in Israel’s restaurant and construction sectors.
Eligible applicants can apply through the official SLBFE website, www.slbfe.lk.
For the restaurant sector, the registration portal is scheduled to open at 12 noon today, with applications to be accepted from up to 4,000 candidates.
Applicants must be male Sri Lankan citizens between 25 and 40 years of age, with at least one year of experience working in a restaurant kitchen, a minimum of eight years of school education, and a good command of English.
Applicants must also have no previous work experience in Israel, while their parents, spouse or children must not currently be employed in Israel.
Candidates must be physically and mentally fit and capable of performing duties such as lifting heavy items, standing for extended periods and washing equipment by hand.
Meanwhile, registration for employment opportunities in Israel’s construction and renovation sector will cover four categories: putty and gypsum board work, electrical box installation and block wall construction, plastering, and ceramic tile work.
The SLBFE plans to register 3,000 applicants for each category, resulting in a total of 12,000 applicants. The registration portal for these positions is scheduled to open at 2 p.m. today.
Applicants for the construction sector must be between 25 and 45 years of age, have completed at least 10 years of school education, and possess basic English-language skills. They must not have previously worked in Israel, and their family members must not currently be working there.
Those who previously applied for jobs in Israel’s construction and renovation sector but failed the final examination will not be eligible to reapply. However, individuals who have previously applied for jobs in other sectors in Israel will be allowed to apply for the four construction categories.
The SLBFE has urged applicants to apply only for the category in which they possess the necessary professional skills and qualifications.
The Bureau also noted that applicants’ professional experience will be assessed by qualified Israeli representatives during the selection process. Candidates have therefore been advised to ensure that they meet the required qualifications and have genuine experience in the field for which they apply.
