Sri Lanka’s gross official reserves increased to US$6.591 billion in July 2026, up from US$6.458 billion in June, according to the latest data released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

The figures show that the country’s official reserves increased by approximately US$133 million during July, representing a 2.1% month-on-month rise.

The increase marks a further strengthening of Sri Lanka’s external reserve position as the country continues to rebuild its foreign exchange buffers.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s gold reserves also recorded a marginal increase during the month. Gold reserves rose from US$191 million in June to US$192 million in July, an increase of US$1 million.

The latest CBSL data indicate that both overall official reserves and the value of gold holdings remained on an upward trajectory during July.

Gross official reserves are an important indicator of Sri Lanka’s external financial position, as they provide a buffer for meeting international payment obligations and supporting stability in the foreign exchange market.
