Authorities have opened the spillway gates of Gregory Lake following a rapid rise in the lake's water level caused by heavy rainfall in the Nuwara Eliya area, according to the Nuwara Eliya Disaster Management Unit.

Meanwhile, the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council has temporarily suspended boating activities on Gregory Lake due to adverse weather conditions and dense fog, citing public safety concerns.

Police have also issued a warning to motorists traveling on the Nuwara Eliya–Badulla, Nuwara Eliya–Hatton, and Nuwara Eliya–Kandy main roads. Dense fog has significantly reduced visibility along the stretch from Top Pass to Labukele, and drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution while traveling through these areas.

Authorities continue to monitor the weather situation and urge both residents and visitors to remain vigilant and follow official safety instructions.
