The Ministry of Health and Mass Media has called for applications from graduates to enroll in the Substitute and Bridging Training Programme for appointments as Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) and Physiotherapists under Sri Lanka's Paramedical Services.
The recruitment drive was announced through Extraordinary Gazette No. 2499, published on 24 July 2026.
Eligible graduates are required to submit their applications by 7 August 2026 via registered post to the Director (Administration II), Ministry of Health and Mass Media, No. 106, Dudley Senanayake Mawatha, Colombo 08.
The six-month training programme will provide trainees with a monthly allowance of Rs. 61,986, which includes both the training allowance and the cost-of-living allowance for 2026.
Upon successful completion of the programme, trainees will be offered permanent appointments. From 2027, newly appointed officers will receive a starting monthly salary of Rs. 71,920, inclusive of the cost-of-living allowance.
According to Chamika H. Gamage, Additional Secretary (Administration II) of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, the approved vacancies currently stand at 253 for the Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) position and 139 for the Physiotherapist position.
In total, 392 graduates are expected to be recruited through the programme to fill vacancies in Sri Lanka's public health sector.
