A no-confidence motion against Minister of Justice Harshana Nanayakkara was defeated in Parliament by a majority of 116 votes, with 36 MPs voting in favour and 152 voting against.
Several MPs were absent during the vote, including members of Tamil political parties and some MPs from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).
