The Court of Appeal has postponed further consideration of the writ petition filed by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who is seeking an order preventing his arrest and detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) over investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks.
The petition was taken up before the Court of Appeal today, where the matter was deferred for further consideration until August 3, 2026.
Rajapaksa's petition seeks judicial intervention to prevent authorities from arresting or detaining him under the PTA in connection with the ongoing investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks.
The case is scheduled to be recalled before the Court of Appeal on August 3 for further proceedings.
