St. Bridget's Convent Choir wins gold, two silver awards at Singapore Intl Choir festiva

The Choir of St. Bridget’s Convent, Colombo 07, has brought pride to Sri Lanka by winning one Gold Award and two Silver Awards at the prestigious Singapore International Choir Festival (SICF) 2026, earning international recognition for their exceptional musical talent and dedication.

Competing against choirs from around the world, the school choir achieved a Gold Award in the Equal Voices category for choristers aged 12 years and below. They also secured Silver Awards in the Musica Sacra Open and Folklore Open categories, highlighting their versatility across diverse choral genres.

The Singapore International Choir Festival is regarded as one of Asia’s leading choral events, providing a global platform for amateur choirs, conservatories and music academies to showcase excellence in vocal performance and artistic expression.

A contingent of approximately 175 students represented St. Bridget’s Convent at the festival, making it one of the largest participating groups. Their performances reflected not only musical excellence but also discipline, teamwork and Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage.

The achievement marks a historic milestone for St. Bridget’s Convent, reaffirming the school's longstanding tradition of excellence in music and the performing arts. It also stands as a significant moment of national pride, as the young choristers successfully represented Sri Lanka on the international stage.

School officials praised the dedication of the students, choir directors, teachers and parents whose collective efforts contributed to the choir’s outstanding success, describing the accomplishment as an inspiration for aspiring young musicians across the country.
