Popular Sri Lankan singer Thilanka Vidusha, better known by his stage name 'Chilly', has been convicted by the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court over an incident involving police officers during a public health inspection in 2014.

Popular Sri Lankan singer Thilanka Vidusha, better known by his stage name 'Chilly', has been convicted by the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court over an incident involving police officers during a public health inspection in 2014.

Kaduwela Magistrate Aruna Buddhadasa found the singer guilty on four charges, including using criminal force and attempting to assault police officers who had visited his residence to conduct a routine dengue mosquito breeding inspection.

The case dates back more than a decade, when the officers were allegedly subjected to criminal intimidation and an attempted physical assault while carrying out their official duties.

Following the conviction, the court imposed a fine of Rs. 1,500 for each of the four charges. In addition, the court ordered the singer to pay Rs. 10,000 in compensation to each of the two police officers affected by the incident.
