Sri Lanka's total export earnings increased by 8% during the first six months of 2026 compared to the corresponding period in 2025, reflecting continued growth in the country's export sector.
According to the latest figures, total export revenue rose by US$664.52 million, increasing from US$8.35 billion in the first half of 2025 to US$9.01 billion during the same period in 2026.
The growth was driven by strong performances in both merchandise exports and services exports.
Merchandise export earnings increased by US$581.19 million, rising from US$6.49 billion to US$7.07 billion. Meanwhile, services exports also recorded positive growth, with earnings increasing by US$83.34 million, from US$1.86 billion to US$1.94 billion.
A comparison with previous years shows that the pace of export growth has accelerated. During the first half of 2025, compared with the same period in 2024, total export earnings increased by US$533.54 million, while the increase from 2025 to 2026 reached US$664.53 million.
The latest figures indicate that Sri Lanka's export economy continues to expand steadily, supported by sustained growth in both goods and services exports.
