A high-level delegation from the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) Asia-Pacific Region (APR), led by APR Scout Committee Chairman Dr. M. Sin Bin Biddin, met with Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage at the Presidential Secretariat today (18).

A high-level delegation from the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) Asia-Pacific Region (APR), led by APR Scout Committee Chairman Dr. M. Sin Bin Biddin, met with Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage at the Presidential Secretariat today (18).

The delegation is currently on an official visit to Sri Lanka aimed at strengthening regional scouting cooperation. During the meeting, discussions focused on the continued development of the Scout Movement in Sri Lanka and efforts to expand its reach to rural communities across the country.

The APR delegation also pledged the full support of the Scout Movement to the Government’s “Ratama Ekata” national programme to eliminate drug abuse. They assured that international expertise and best practices would be shared to support the initiative and said detailed proposals would be presented in due course.

The meeting also discussed plans to host the Asia-Pacific Scout Jamboree in Sri Lanka in February 2027, with attention given to securing Government support for the successful organization of the regional event.

Among those present were Sri Lanka Scout Association Chairman Ransiri Perera, Chief Commissioner Attorney-at-Law Manoj Nanayakkara, WOSM APR Scout Committee Vice Chairman Dev Raj Ghimire, Advisor Wendel E. Avisado, Deputy Chief Commissioner Kapila Perera, Committee Chairman Kamalnath Jinadasa, International Commissioner Dr. Asanka Eriyawa, Assistant Chief Commissioner Prabath Kularatne, along with regional directors, advisors of the WOSM Asia-Pacific Region, and senior representatives of the Sri Lanka Scout Association.
