Sri Lanka's Department of Examinations has announced that the application deadline for the 2026 G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination will not be extended beyond July 23, 2026 under any circumstances.
The department also clarified that students who have not yet received a National Identity Card (NIC) can still apply. School candidates without an NIC should follow the instructions provided to their principals, while private candidates may register using their guardian's NIC.

Applicants are urged to submit their applications before the deadline without waiting for their NICs.
