Global gold prices rise, Local gold prices decline in Sri Lanka

Gold prices in the global market continued their upward trend today, with the price of an ounce of gold reaching US$4,175.07, marking a 1.52% increase compared to the previous trading day.

Despite the increase in international gold prices, the Sri Lankan domestic gold market recorded a decline in prices.

According to the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association, the price of a 24-carat gold sovereign fell from Rs. 386,000 to Rs. 384,000 today.

Meanwhile, the price of a 22-carat gold sovereign also declined from Rs. 355,100 to Rs. 353,300.
