Deputy Speaker Rizvie Salih and Member of Parliament Rauff Hakeem are representing Sri Lanka at the state funeral of Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in Tehran.
The Sri Lankan delegation arrived in the Iranian capital to pay their last respects on behalf of the government and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
According to Iranian state media, the funeral has drawn high-level delegations from more than 30 countries, underscoring the international significance of the occasion. Senior representatives from countries including China, Russia and India are among those attending the ceremonial events.
Iranian authorities said the gathering includes representatives from across Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America, making it one of the largest international diplomatic events hosted by the country in recent years.
