Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, attended a cinematic tribute evening organized by the Embassy of the United States, Colombo to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Independence of the United States.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Herath emphasized that cinema is far more than a form of entertainment, describing it as a powerful reflection of human freedom, creative expression, and the complexities of society. He noted that American cinema has captivated audiences around the world, including in Sri Lanka, for decades through its artistic freedom and compelling storytelling.

The Minister also highlighted that cultural and artistic exchanges play a vital role in strengthening the friendship and mutual understanding between the people of Sri Lanka and the United States, extending beyond political and economic cooperation.

Minister Herath conveyed his warm congratulations to Acting U.S. Ambassador Howell, the staff of the U.S. Embassy, and the people of the United States on the country's 250th Independence Day celebrations.
