CBSL updates list of prohibited pyramid scheme companies

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has updated its list of companies and institutions found to be operating prohibited pyramid schemes, adding Infinity Rover (Pvt) Ltd following an investigation conducted under the Banking Act.

The CBSL stated that, in terms of Section 83(C) of the Banking Act, No. 30 of 1988, as amended, it investigated the operations of Infinity Rover (Pvt) Ltd and determined that the company had engaged in, conducted, and promoted a prohibited pyramid scheme.

With this latest amendment, the number of entities identified by the Central Bank as operating prohibited schemes has increased to 25.

Infinity Rover (Pvt) Ltd

The Central Bank has repeatedly advised the public to exercise caution before investing in or participating in schemes that promise unusually high or guaranteed returns, warning that prohibited pyramid schemes are illegal under Sri Lankan law.

The CBSL urged the public to verify the legitimacy of investment opportunities and to avoid engaging with entities that have been identified as operating prohibited schemes.
