The Department of Railways has temporarily suspended two train services operating on the Kelani Valley railway line after a power set required for their operation became unavailable.
The suspension, which takes effect from today (01), affects the 4.00 PM train from Colombo Fort to Avissawella and the 5.55 AM service from Avissawella to Colombo Fort, according to Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters’ Association (SLSMA) General Secretary Kasun Chamara Jayasekara.
The Station Masters’ Association stated that frequent train cancellations have become an ongoing issue within the railway network, with service disruptions occurring on a regular basis.
The association also noted that the cancellation of trains during peak commuting hours has caused significant inconvenience to office workers and other daily passengers, placing an increasing burden on those who rely on rail transport.
