The Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court on Wednesday ruled that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) investigation into former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director Suresh Salley will continue under the supervision of the current CID Director, rejecting a request to transfer the probe.

Delivering a 23-page order, Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate Pasan Amarasena dismissed Salley's application seeking to have the investigation reassigned.

The court also rejected Salley's request to be provided with stationery and writing materials while in custody. In a separate ruling, the magistrate declined his request to submit a confidential statement during the proceedings.

Additionally, Chief Magistrate Amarasena directed that Salley be produced before the court via video conference for all future hearings.

The case was postponed to a later date, when proceedings before the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court are set to continue.
