A three-day nationwide dengue prevention program will begin tomorrow under the guidance of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, health authorities announced.
Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, said the initiative aims to strengthen mosquito control measures and encourage public participation in eliminating dengue breeding sites across the country.
According to the National Dengue Control Unit, the number of reported dengue cases has exceeded 54,000 this year, while 32 deaths have been attributed to the disease.
Health officials have urged the public to support the program by inspecting homes, schools, workplaces, and surrounding areas, removing stagnant water, and maintaining clean environments to help curb the spread of dengue. Authorities emphasized that community participation is essential to reducing mosquito breeding and preventing further infections.
