FM Vijitha Herath meets Malacca Governor to strengthen bilateral ties

Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, held a special meeting and luncheon with the Governor of Malacca, Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, in Colombo yesterday, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

Minister Herath said he was pleased to meet Governor Rustam once again, recalling their previous meeting during his recent visit to Malaysia. He noted that the latest discussions further strengthened the cordial relationship between the two sides.

During the meeting, both leaders held extensive discussions on enhancing cooperation between Malacca and Sri Lanka across a range of sectors. Key areas of focus included promoting tourism, expanding collaboration in education and cultural exchanges, strengthening economic relations, and creating new trade and investment opportunities. Both sides expressed their shared commitment to advancing cooperation in these fields for mutual benefit.

The meeting was also attended by the Governor of the Western Province, Hanif Yusuf, and the Malaysian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Badli Hisham Adam.
