The Colombo High Court has postponed further proceedings in the case relating to the Central Bank bond scam involving 11 accused, including former Central Bank of Sri Lanka Governor Arjuna Mahendran and former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, until July 22.

The case was taken up today ( 26) before High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne.

During the hearing, the judge informed the court that the Trial-at-Bar bench assigned to hear the case had not been properly constituted. As a result, the matter was adjourned and scheduled to be recalled on July 22 for further proceedings.

The case was filed by the Attorney General under the Public Property Act against 11 defendants, including former Governor Arjuna Mahendran, former Minister Ravi Karunanayake, Perpetual Treasuries Limited, and its directors Arjun Aloysius and Geoffrey Aloysius.

The defendants face charges over alleged irregularities linked to the Central Bank Treasury bond auction held in March 2016.
