Veteran Sri Lankan actor Saman Almeida has passed away at the age of 61 after battling a prolonged illness.

He died this morning (June 26) while receiving treatment at the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital.

Born on October 18, 1965, Almeida earned widespread recognition as a talented comedic actor. He became a household name for his portrayal of "Pinthu" in the popular television drama "Yes Boss," which aired on Sirasa TV.

Throughout his career, Almeida made significant contributions to stage theatre, television, and cinema, leaving a lasting impact on Sri Lanka's entertainment industry.

His remains will be placed for public respects at a private funeral parlour in Maharagama from this afternoon.

The final rites are scheduled to be held on June 28 at 6:00 p.m. at the Godigamuwa Public Cemetery.

Saman Almeida's passing marks the loss of a beloved entertainer whose performances brought laughter and joy to generations of Sri Lankan audiences.
