In view of the large number of pilgrims expected to travel for Poson Poya, which falls on June 29, the Railway Department has arranged additional train services alongside its regular schedule to provide greater convenience for passengers.
The special trains will operate between June 27 and June 30, 2026, with services planned to accommodate the increased demand for travel to the sacred sites of Anuradhapura and Mihintale during the religious observances.
Sri Lanka Railways stated that the additional services are intended to ensure smoother transportation for devotees participating in Poson celebrations and religious activities.
