Premadasa made the remarks in Parliament while responding to a question raised by Minister of Justice and National Integration, Attorney-at-Law Harshana Nanayakkara.
The Opposition Leader stated that the party would take the strongest possible action if wrongdoing is established through the disciplinary process.
“We will definitely conduct a disciplinary inquiry. We will certainly take the strongest action necessary because there is no place or opportunity in our party for wrongdoers or criminals,” Premadasa told Parliament.
Abeysinghe was among three individuals arrested by CIABOC in connection with an ongoing investigation into an alleged large-scale bribery scheme linked to underworld figure Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne, alias “Harak Kata”.
