England’s star batter Joe Root has returned to the top of the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings after climbing two places in the latest update released by the International Cricket Council.

Root’s rise to the summit has seen fellow England batter Harry Brook slip from first to second place. Meanwhile, Australia’s Travis Head has dropped one position to third in the rankings.

Australia’s Steve Smith continues to hold fourth place, while Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis remains steady at fifth position.

Among Sri Lankan batters, Kamindu continues to be the highest-ranked player. The only other Sri Lankan in the top ten is Dinesh Chandimal, who occupies ninth place in the latest standings.

The updated rankings underline the strong presence of England and Australia at the top of Test cricket’s batting charts, while Sri Lanka maintains representation through Kamindu Mendis and Dinesh Chandimal in the elite top ten.
