Appointment letters were presented today (24) at the Presidential Secretariat to the members of the Salaries and Pensions Commission, which was established by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to recommend solutions to issues relating to the salaries and pensions of public sector employees and pensioners.

The appointment letters were handed over under the patronage of Presidential Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.

At the ceremony, retired Ministry Secretary Ashoka Peiris, who will serve as the Chairman of the Commission, and the other members of the Commission received their letters of appointment. The members are retired Judge K.K.A.V. Swarnadhipathi, N.B.M. Ranatunga, Dr. R.W. Jayantha, Dr. G.M. Muditha Sujeewa, retired Brigadier B.J. Fernando, A.L. Mohamed Mukthar, S.T.B. Ratnayake, A.W. Lal Chandra Weerakoon, G.A.P. Pathmanatha, K. Sarath Lal Perera, and D.M.C. Nalaka Dissanayake, who will serve as Secretary to the Commission.

The Commission was established by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake through Extraordinary Gazette No. 2494/05 dated June 22, 2026, with the objective of identifying and recommending sustainable solutions to existing salary and pension-related issues affecting public servants and pensioners.
