According to the advisory, sea areas stretching from Kalpitiya to Kankesanturai via Mannar, as well as from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota, are expected to experience rough conditions at times.
The Department said wind speeds in these areas could reach 50 to 60 kilometres per hour, resulting in strong gusts and hazardous sea conditions.
Fishermen, boat operators and members of the naval community have been advised to exercise caution while at sea and closely monitor future weather updates and forecasts issued by the Department of Meteorology.
