Sri Lankan foreign minister meets with US Assistant Secretary

Sri Lanka reaffirmed its commitment to neutrality and international law while seeking stronger economic cooperation with the United States during a meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with S. Paul Kapur.

During the discussion, congratulations were extended to the government and people of the United States ahead of the country's 250th Independence Day celebrations on July 4. The two sides also discussed the recently initiated U.S.–Iran agreement, with best wishes conveyed for its successful implementation.

Sri Lanka emphasized that it consistently pursues a neutral foreign policy and acts in accordance with international law. Appreciation was also expressed for the continued support provided by the United States, particularly in assisting Sri Lanka during the current challenges in the Middle East, supporting fuel security, and providing maritime and aerial assets to the country's security forces.
