The Ministry of Education has announced that the 2026 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination will be held as scheduled, rejecting calls from several parties to postpone the examination.

The Ministry stated that, according to Teacher’s Guides prepared by the National Institute of Education, approximately 300 school days are required to complete the Advanced Level syllabus.

It noted that students sitting the 2026 examination will have received 343 school days of instruction from the commencement of academic activities until August 7, 2026, exceeding the recommended duration.

The Ministry further pointed out that repeat candidates appearing for the examination have been provided with a preparation period of four months and 10 days between the release of the previous examination results and the commencement of the upcoming examination.

Based on these considerations, the Ministry said there is sufficient time for candidates to complete their studies and prepare for the examination, and therefore no changes will be made to the existing timetable.

Accordingly, the 2026 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination is scheduled to begin on August 10 as planned.
