Sri Lanka Police have assigned four investigation teams to apprehend the main suspect linked to the death of a 33-year-old physiotherapist from Weligama.

The victim’s body was discovered inside a car near Teldeniya Hospital on June 17. Police investigations have identified a suspect from Narammala, Kurunegala, who is allegedly connected to more than 20 fraud and corruption cases currently before courts.

Authorities say the suspect allegedly used a fake National Identity Card while posing as a software engineer and maintained relationships with several women. Statements have been recorded from his family members as investigations continue.

Police also revealed that the vehicle in which the body was found belongs to a woman reportedly linked to the suspect. A woman said to have been in a relationship with him is currently in hiding.

The victim, attached to Ampara Hospital, had been on a tour in the Nuwara Eliya area from June 3 to 16. Following a post-mortem examination, an open verdict was returned on the cause of death, and the body was released to her family. Investigations are ongoing.
