225,748 students qualify for Advanced Level studies based on 2025 O/L results

A total of 225,748 students have qualified for Advanced Level (A/L) studies based on the results of the 2025 G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination, Commissioner General of Examinations, Indika Kumari Liyanage, announced.

Speaking at a media briefing she stated that 11,790 candidates obtained A grades in all nine subjects. Of this number, 11,651 were school candidates, while 139 were private candidates.

The Commissioner General further revealed that 7,419 candidates failed all subjects at the examination.

Meanwhile, candidates seeking a re-scrutiny of their answer scripts will be able to submit applications from June 25 to July 8, she added.

Further details regarding the re-scrutiny application process are expected to be released by the Department of Examinations Sri Lanka
