Sri Lanka’s security forces have confiscated more than 10 tonnes of illegal narcotics since the launch of the ‘A Nation United’ national anti-drug campaign, according to officials.

The figures were disclosed during the Kandy District progress review meeting held to assess the implementation of the nationwide operation.

Authorities stated that since the programme commenced on October 30, 2025, security personnel have seized more than 2,100 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (Ice), approximately 1,950 kilograms of heroin, nearly 5,800 kilograms of cannabis, over 280 kilograms of cocaine, and 1,736,349 narcotic tablets.

The ‘A Nation United’ initiative was introduced by the government in 2025 as a three-year national campaign to eliminate the drug menace through coordinated action involving the Police, the Tri-Forces, and community-based committees.

The programme is being implemented through district, divisional, and village-level committees with the support of religious leaders, civil society organizations, and local communities as part of a comprehensive effort to combat drug trafficking and abuse across the country.
