The Ministry of Trade said the revised prices apply to a range of staple commodities, including several rice varieties, wheat flour, chickpeas and sugar.
Under the latest revision, the price of big peas has been reduced from Rs. 344 to Rs. 339 per kilogram, while white raw rice has been lowered from Rs. 199 to Rs. 196. The price of red Nadu rice has been reduced from Rs. 239 to Rs. 234, and red raw samba rice from Rs. 229 to Rs. 224 per kilogram.
The price of wheat flour has also been cut from Rs. 169 to Rs. 159 per kilogram. Meanwhile, local white Nadu rice has been reduced from Rs. 209 to Rs. 204, white sugar from Rs. 219 to Rs. 217, and white raw samba rice from Rs. 240 to Rs. 235 per kilogram.
The Ministry stated that the revised prices have come into effect immediately at all Lanka Sathosa outlets.
