UGC Vice Chairman, Prof. Wasantha Liyanage, stated that the cut-off marks for admissions to the 2025/2026 academic year are expected to be released during the first week of August.
Of the applicants, 42,937 students are expected to secure admission to state universities across the country.
Professor Liyanage further noted that the enrollment process for selected students is scheduled to take place during the second, third, and fourth weeks of August 2026, enabling successful applicants to commence their university education soon after the release of admission decisions.
The announcement comes as thousands of students await the university selection process, with competition remaining high for available places in state higher education institutions. The forthcoming release of cut-off marks will determine eligibility for admission to various degree programs offered by Sri Lanka’s state university system.
Officials have advised applicants to monitor UGC announcements for updates regarding admission procedures and enrollment schedules.
