Fernando has been indicted on several charges, including criminal negligence, over allegations that he failed to take appropriate action to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks despite receiving prior intelligence warnings.
The case was taken up before the Trial-at-Bar bench comprising Judges Priyantha Liyanage, Viraj Weerasuriya, and Thilakarathna Bandara.
During the hearing, defence counsel Chaminda Atukorale concluded his final oral submissions on behalf of the former Defence Secretary.
Following the completion of arguments, the three-judge bench fixed July 31 as the date to deliver its judgment.
Meanwhile, the Trial-at-Bar has also scheduled July 31 to deliver the verdict in the separate case against former Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara, who is facing similar charges of criminal negligence for allegedly failing to act on intelligence warnings ahead of the Easter Sunday attacks.
