Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya held discussions with a delegation from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on ongoing efforts to support the recovery of Sri Lanka’s education sector following the impact of Cyclone Ditwah.

The meeting, held on June 12 at Temple Trees, focused on the implementation of activities outlined in the report titled “Cyclone Ditwah Education Emergency Response Plan: Phase 1 Progress Updates (January–April 2026).”

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the discussions reviewed progress achieved during the initial phase of the response and explored future interventions aimed at strengthening support for children and schools affected by the disaster.

Both sides also exchanged views on enhancing collaboration to ensure the continuity of education and the well-being of affected children.

The UNICEF delegation included UNICEF Representative Emma Brigham, Deputy Representative Begona Arellano, and other senior officials.
