According to the BOI, the Cabinet Appointed Negotiation Committee (CANC) approved the extension to allow prospective investors additional time to prepare and submit comprehensive proposals.
Under the revised schedule, proposals must be submitted by 2.00 p.m. on July 9, while the issuance of EOI documents will conclude at 2.30 p.m. on July 8.
The BOI stated that the extension is intended to facilitate greater participation and ensure investors have sufficient time to develop detailed investment plans for the airport's available resources and facilities.
The original deadline for the submission of proposals was June 9.
The EOI process is part of ongoing efforts to attract private sector investment and enhance the commercial utilization of assets at MRIA, which is located in Sri Lanka’s southern region and is considered a key infrastructure project with significant development potential.
