Rs. 2,000 B allocated for next year's capital expenditure- Minister Nalinda

The government is planning to allocate Rs. 2,000 billion for capital expenditure next year, according to Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

He made these remarks today (13) while attending the inauguration ceremony for the carpeting and development of 14 roads in the Kalutara District.

The Minister said that approximately Rs. 350 billion has been allocated for capital expenditure this year. He also noted that projects worth Rs. 550 million have been approved for rural road development in Kalutara District under both Provincial Council and Central Government funding during 2026.

In addition, a further Rs. 100 million has been allocated for the development of bridges and culverts. Overall, around Rs. 2 billion (Rs. 200 crore) has been earmarked for road and related infrastructure development in the district.

Dr. Jayatissa further stated that government revenue has recorded significant growth in 2025 and 2026, with state revenue reaching Rs. 5,500 billion last year. He added that Sri Lanka recorded its highest-ever export earnings last year, while foreign remittances and the tourism sector have also shown strong growth.
