Deputy Transportation Superintendent Asanka Samarasinghe stated that the train involved was scheduled to operate from Rambukkana to Panadura when the incident occurred.
Authorities have confirmed that the derailment has not caused any delays to railway services. Officials noted that train operations on the network continue as normal.
Railway personnel have already commenced work to re-rail the train and restore the affected section.
