Man arrested at Bandaranaike Airport with 26,600 Duty-Free Cigarettes

A 40-year-old man from the Marawila area was arrested in the early hours of the morning at the arrival terminal of Bandaranaike International Airport for allegedly attempting to bring a large quantity of duty-free cigarettes into the country.

 The suspect was taken into custody by a team of officers attached to the Airport Unit of the Police Narcotics Bureau during a special operation conducted at the airport.

Authorities seized 26,600 cigarettes (133 cartons) that had been brought into the country duty-free.

The arrested individual is a resident of Marawila and is 40 years old.
