Iran’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the US strikes on the country, saying that it has rendered the ceasefire “practically meaningless”. Earlier, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) launched retaliatory strikes on US forces in the region, including in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, according to Iranian news reports.
The US military launched attacks “against multiple targets in Iran”, saying the strikes were in “self-defense”. The attacks come hours after President Donald Trump accused Tehran of taking “too long” to negotiate a deal.
Iranian media has reported attacks in numerous locations, including the port city of Bandar Abbas, Qeshm island, and the southern towns of Sirik, Minab and Karaj west of Tehran.
Iran’s Mehr news agency reports that Iran’s military has ordered the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all vessels, including oil tankers and commercial vessels.
Israeli attacks on Lebanon continued on Wednesday, with multiple reports of casualties in strikes on the south of the country and in the Bekaa Valley region, as the death toll since March from Israel’s bombardments reached 3,696.
