The US military has launched strikes “against multiple targets in Iran,” US Central Command said in a statement. It framed the latest operation as in response to “Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression.”

US President Donald Trump, who had warned earlier that strikes would resume, said the bombing will stop shortly, according to a Fox News correspondent, and that top Iranian officials called to ask him to halt the latest attack. Still, Trump warned attacks could continue tomorrow if a deal isn’t reached.

Iran’s military said the Strait of Hormuz will be closed to all vessels “effective immediately” after the US strikes, a claim that US Central Command rejected in a statement.

Meanwhile, a Qatari delegation that traveled to Tehran to “bridge the remaining gaps” between the US and Iran remains in the country, a diplomatic source told CNN.
