Former Southern Province Chief Minister Remanded Until June 12

Former Southern Province Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal De Silva has been ordered to be remanded until June 12 by the Hulftsdorp Chief Magistrate’s Court.

De Silva was arrested earlier today (10) by officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over an incident that allegedly occurred in 2019.

Following his arrest, he was produced before the Hulftsdorp Chief Magistrate’s Court, which ordered that he be remanded pending further proceedings.

Further investigations into the matter are being conducted by CIABOC.
