India continues to dominate as the country's largest source market, with 11,216 arrivals recorded during the month, accounting for 42 percent of all tourist arrivals in June. The United Kingdom ranked second with 1,938 visitors, followed by Australia with 1,562 arrivals, China with 1,496, and Bangladesh with 1,241 visitors.
The latest figures indicate a steady flow of international travelers to the island nation as the tourism sector maintains its recovery momentum.
For comparison, Sri Lanka recorded 138,241 tourist arrivals during June 2025, highlighting the significance of the current month's performance as the sector progresses through 2026.
Meanwhile, total tourist arrivals for the year have surpassed the one-million mark. According to the SLTDA, Sri Lanka has received 1,049,065 visitors between January and June 2026.
India remains the leading contributor to overall arrivals this year, with 261,476 visitors. The United Kingdom follows with 100,031 tourists, while Russia has contributed 76,628 arrivals so far in 2026.
Tourism authorities expect continued growth in visitor numbers during the upcoming peak travel seasons, supported by strong demand from key international markets and ongoing promotional efforts aimed at attracting more travelers to Sri Lanka.
