The Sri Lanka Railway Guards’ Union has called off its planned strike following discussions with the Private Secretary to the Deputy Minister. Both parties agreed to investigate the disputed incident within 48 hours and announce a decision afterward.

As a result, passenger train services will operate normally today, providing relief to commuters across the country. However, the union has decided to withdraw only from freight train operations, which may lead to disruptions in cargo transportation services.
