During the meeting, the Secretary to the President inquired into the readiness of fertiliser companies with regard to importation and distribution arrangements, as well as the support required from the Government to facilitate the process.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of adhering to a structured timeline for fertiliser importation and distribution to ensure an adequate and uninterrupted supply for farmers during the Maha season.
Attention was also drawn to the need to ensure the timely distribution of fertiliser to farmers at the commencement of the Maha cultivation season in early September, as well as to the impact of fluctuations in global fertiliser prices on import planning.
