The victims sustained serious injuries in the blaze and were admitted to National Hospital of Sri Lanka, where they later succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment.
Authorities deployed three fire engines from the Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte Municipal Council to contain the fire.
Preliminary investigations indicate the fire may have been caused by a gas leak, though the exact cause remains under investigation. Police said officers from Thalangama Police have launched an inquiry into the incident.
